Chris David (BTchLn(ECE))

Kia ora. My name is Chris. I have worked at Redwoodtown Kindergarten since 2010. I have a BTchLn and over twelve years experience in kindergartens as well as being a mother of two.

I passionately believe that all children have the right to a quality early childhood education and especially enjoy supporting children and families of children with diverse needs.

I love teaching especially helping grow children's social and emotional competencies. Examples of these are: confidence in themselves and confidence to try new experiences,  positive communication skills used to establish and maintain friendships, good conflict resolution skills and resilience. These competencies are so important because they are the foundations children need to flourish in society.

Jennifer Ritchie (DTchLn(ECE))

Kia ora! My name is Jennifer Ritchie.

My involvement with the Marlborough Kindergarten Association goes back 16 years, when my own two children attended Renwick Kindergarten. I have been a teacher with MKA for the last 10 years at Springlands, Picton and Renwick and now Redwoodtown. I am also the Teacher Representative on the MKA Board.

I am passionate about children’s learning in the early years and especially enjoy creativity, literacy, languages and our magnificent ‘great outdoors’! I value relationships and believe they are key to positive teaching and learning. I value the diversity of our communities and have a genuine interest in people and where they are from and what they bring to our Kindergarten learning community.

Lisa Morriss (DipT.(ECE))

I have over 20 years teaching experience in the early childhood sector, working with children from birth to 6 years. I have 3 children of my own, all boys, including a set of twins.  My teaching is all about FUN!!! I love to have fun with tamariki, developing their curiosity and enjoy providing positive learning experiences where we can celebrate achievements, foster confidence, learn and laugh together.

I also believe it is paramount to establish nurturing, supportive and collaborative relationships with whanau and children. I feel it is important to work respectfully with whanau, to develop a strong sense of belonging and enjoy nurturing children’s belief in themselves, their abilities and their learning.

Kirsten Boden (DipT.(ECE))

Hi my name is Kirsten Boden. I am a registered early childcare teacher. I have been teaching for over 17 years and have enjoyed working with and alongside young children and their families. I lived on Waiheke Island for over 20 years and worked at the community childcare centre there, which I really enjoyed, working with babies all the way up to 5 year olds. This was a full time position .Then with my Partner Matt and my son Robin we decided to make a change and come and live in sunny Marlborough just over 2 years ago.

Since this time I have worked for a the Marlborough kindergarten association as a reliever,  which was  varied  and challenging,  learning forty different sets of names, in each centre and their families, and staff and getting to know their communities. (Great fun). I have been amazed at the diversity of Blenheim and the wonderful children that learn at these centres.

I am now working with the Redwoodtown kindergarten team as a part time full time reliever for the year. I look forward to doing this as I like working with the same group of people and getting to know the childrens individual needs better, I feel that I can bring a wealth of knowledge love and respect for your children and I can tell a great story as I love story telling.

So please come and say hello and I look forward to working with you and your child/children.

Dorothy McGrail - Administrator/Teacher Aide

Born in Canada and raised in Dunedin, I moved to Blenheim 30 years ago with my husband.

We lived in Redwoodtown for 20 of those years but now have a small lifestyle block at Spring Creek. Our 3 children went to Redwoodtown kindergarten and Redwoodtown School and I worked in the office at the school for 10 years.

My last 12 years have been at Redwoodtown kindergarten as Teacher Aide and then Administrator.

I love children and enjoy making them laugh. We have a dynamic teaching team and are proud of providing a safe, relaxed atmosphere where children and whanau know they belong.
