Teaching and Learning Philosophy

At Redwoodtown Kindergarten we:

Reflect our culturally rich community - whānaungatanga;

Fostering positive relationships, we support tamariki and whānau, to be empowered

Children's culture is reflected in our environment

Promote the growth of children's social emotional intelligence - mana;

Supporting children to develop positive self-esteem we foster resilience, confidence, patience and independence

Valuing empathy we support the children to care for each other

Value a sustainable natural environment - he mara;

We will encourage children to care for our environment so they will become kaitiaki (guardians) of natural environments in the future.

Recycling, composting and edible gardens are all part of our learning environment and we will embed the Enviroschool principles within our programme.
